How often does google maps update?

How often does google maps update their "satellite view" maps in Australia?

  • Answer:

It depends on lots of factors, probably including: the population of the area, the quality of the existing imagery, and the price, quality and availability of new imagery. I live in a city in the UK, and Google maps still shows it as it was in the summer of 2008. If major cities can go over 7 years without an update, I'd expect rural areas to have even older imagery. If you find Google's imagery not good enough, Bing maps often has much newer imagery than Google, it certainly does where I live.

It depends., If it's a rural area and no of people viewing or searching that area is less., then the update might take sometime.. If it is urban area and no of clicks are more. Then the updates are much faster! But eventually if you feel., your area has an old imagery & there are many recent developments which aren't seen on maps., you can drop an RMI (Report Map Issue) from your phone or desktop and request an new updated imagery.
