How do you take care of itchy and annoying mosquito bites?

How many mosquito bites does it take to kill a human being?

  • I don't know if someone has ever died as a result for suffering too many mosquito bites, but I guess it could be possible. Any idea? I am wondering particularly about a possible death not related to any diseases like malaria, West Nile Virus, and such. Ok.

  • Answer:

The average human at about 150 pounds has about five liters of blood in their body. A mosquito on average will suck five millionths (0.000005) of a liter of blood. So dividing, it would take 5/0.000005 = 1,000,000 mosquitos to drain all five liters from the human body. However, a loss of over 40% (about two liters), if untreated with a blood transfusion, will most likely result in death. So to answer your question fully, we divide 2 liters / 0.000005 liters to reach the conclusion that if 400,000 mosquitos simultaneously sucked blood from you, you could die.
