Best Sushi Restuarant in Madrid?

Where is the best place to go for sushi in Madrid?

  • Answer:

Sushi 99 is probably high on the list, great quality and original take on classic sushi preparations. Ikura is great for rolls, and has superb unagi sushi. And no sushi recommendation for Madrid is complete without mentioning Kabuki, which fuses sushi with local touches. Pricey, but worth it. I would suggest the one near Bernabeu over the one at Wellington, but it's all in personal taste. Plenty of less expensive options - Hanakura near Plaza de Olavide or Naomi on Calle Avila are two small joints which are worth visiting. In any case, beware of any japanese restaurant that advertises 'asian food' or has excessive decoration (i.e. is chinese, not japanese). There are plenty of these and quality is consistently mediocre.

I completely agree with Pablo's opinion and I only add Nikkei 225 to the list. Taking into account that it's pretty expensive but it's at the same level of Kabuki. For delivery I will choose Kotobuki and for take away service I vote for any of the Sushi Markets in Mercado de la Paz or San Antón. A cheaper spot is a new Maki recently opened in Malasaña.
