Where can I send screenplays?

Where can I download screenplays of films to read / study?

  • Are there web sites where I can find screenplays of movies (that have already been made) to study with the intention of learning screenwriting?

  • Answer:

To moreso ensure that you're not simply reading transcripts and especially to make sure that you're reading properly formatted scripts, you want to try reading scripts in PDF format.  Check out the below sites: http://www.mypdfscripts.com - This website has an outstanding collection of actual PDF scripts.  http://Script-o-rama.com is great and was my go to site, but it has since proven to be a place that offers non-formatted scripts and/or transcripts... at least the majority.  This can be misleading for screenwriters that are trying to learn.  And since many people don't live in the L.A. area, thus they can't visit the WGA LIBRARY (wish they had an online database), http://mypdfscripts.com is a perfect alternative.  They don't have everything, but they have more than enough. http://www.wiscreenwritersforum.org - The non profit support group for screenwriters world-wide has been around since the 80s and was mentioned in The Screenwriters Bible (Plus for $50 a year, you get shared access to http://Variety.com, Done Deal Pro, and especially http://IMDBPro.com, and much more... a great support group and tool for writers of all experience levels and it's all non profit). We have a script database that consists MOSTLY of PDF scripts.  We've been very selective of what goes in there, offering screenwriters a place to go where they don't have to rummage through trash (poorly formatted and/or transripted scripts).  Note:  The script database is available for free to all visitors to the site.

Google- I once by accident found 50 to-be-produced scripts (slated between 2010-2013) with a simple google search. That file dissappeared the next time I looked for it though. "Movie title + PDF" ENTER.

One thing to beware of is that there are MANY versions of the script for a movie.  Even if you get the 'script of the movie' bear in mind that that isn't necessarily the script that got the movie made!

The BBC puts a lot of their scripts online. If you live in LA go to the WGA library.
