What is a good organization to donate to for mentally handicapped people?

Fake or trustworthy :  Sometimes, like others, I receive a mailers from my friends, describing someones daughter/sons tragic story and at the end it says you can contribute just by forwarding this to minimum 3 people , some organization is tracking this email trail and they will donate based on  how

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars. Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favourite TV shows. Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms. The mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly and screaming inside that little body And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer.   Fake. Fake. Fake. Fake. Even if they could track the number of people you forwarded it to, the question one might ask - is how does this help anyone? If they asked for your donation and then said forward it on to 20 people for their donation, it may well be fake, but at least the revenue is clear.  And if any giant corporation actually said they could track the number of people you write and who they write;  even if they can - do you think that would be a public relations coup?  Oh gee, we tracked 12 millions emails precisely by content - from whom and to whom - and we're gonna give some money - maybe - - feel any privacy issues? Most of all.  Fake. It's always the chain letter of old. Does anyone remember paper? Do this or puppies will die.  Dontcha want the poor kid to have a new kidney?  It actually appeals to so many because this is something they can DO. They can't actually help but they can send an email onto 100 people in the HOPE that might actually make a difference. My guess is that Facebook , Twitter have replaced a lot of the "feel goodness" about forwarding. There are many successful massive campaigns that encourage emails to corporations, or boycotts, or forwarding (Kony 2012) - without saying there is a financial benefit for each new person but appealing to base emotions of "if you don't forward, you are true heartless bastard" -.  Some then ask for money through their website. Hundreds of people retweeted the offer, including Parks and Recreation star Aziz Ansari, before they realized it was a fake." Fake. Fake. Fake. Come on People! Bottom line - You can send e-money.  You can pay for things online. You can get money sent to you. But what your email does - or twitter or facebook or Quora - cannot automatically effect some vague "corporate pennies" [oh, except for those people who write lots and lots of answers].  They are totally DUE brother!
