What international products are not sold in the UK?

Is there a central database of food ingredients for the products sold in UK supermarkets?

  • I'm wondering if there is any publicily accesible (or otherwise) database for the ingredients in food products that are sold in UK (or other) supermarkets. In particular I'm interested in the 'per 100grams' data that is on all UK food products.

  • Answer:

There isn't an official one but http://MyFitnesspal.com and a few other dieting websites have crowd sourced varies attempts at creating one. Though they typically only hold the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrition_facts_label information for the products, not the full list of ingredients.

Other answers

There is no obligation to provide data on the quantities of ingredients in products other than to indicate the significance of ingredients by ordering them in the ingredients lists. Nutritional information (per 100g) is not mandatory for all foods and is almost always part of an agreement or scheme. There is no central database, I am not sure food companies would welcome it.
