If a website has Google Analytics code in all its pages, but the site owner doesn't even know it was there, is there some way to access the data retroactively anyway?
-
I often come across clients that ask me to install Google Analytics, but looking at the source code of their webpages, I see that at some point the GA code was added. Can I somehow get control of this data for them?
-
Answer:
You will be able to see the data for as long as the code has been live, as long as the account has been active (and not deleted). In order to regain access to an account which you don't know the administrative email login, you should have the client email Google Analytics support (http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/request.py?contact_type=regain_access ), preferably from an email with the same domain name as the site.
