How do I get a Yelp review to show-up on the business Yelp page?

  • I noticed that a review I wrote on a business doesn't display when you look at the business page. It just displays in my Yelp account under reviews written.

    In order for Yelp to show your reviews for a business, your account needs to whitelisted with their review filter.  Generally, this happens automatically after you've posted a certain number of reviews.  Still, Yelp puts a lot of proprietary work into their filter and are notoriously secretive regarding it due to the fact that they don't want it to be reverse engineered and gamed, so even if you think you're in good standing and whitelisted, they may just block a certain percent of reviews arbitrarily for purposes of obfuscation.  You may read more about it at https://biz.yelp.com/support/common_questions.

Yelp uses "automated recommendation software" to basically filter out reviews. Sometimes, a review that the program deems unfit will be removed and placed in a sort of review holding tank. Yelp says that it's process is designed to make sure reviews actually reflect the views of the Yelp community. They tend to weed out reviews form new users, reviews that are just raging complaints, and reviews that are overly positive.
