How to send video stream to soap web service?

What is the best way to stream video by smart phone?

  • I have tried every free service available BlogTV, JTV, Ustream etc, etc and none of them have satisfactory video quality.  I know it IS possible though because I used a web camera emulating app that streamed a really good quality image by 3G (but it was upside down and I don't know how to capture the image and embedd it in my web page).

  • Answer:

To stream FROM the phone?  Or TO the phone?

Jeff, I hope you don't mind me reposting this PM but I think it was the best answer so:   Jeff Harper I haven't done any tests with streaming FROM a smartphone.  It seems to me that there are a number of limitations: Camera quality, processing power, limited bandwidth, etc. The most interesting option I've heard of for mobile encoding is this: http://mashable.com/2012/04/12/l... I'm not sure if you've already tested this, but it may be a solution that makes sense for your application. Hope that helps. Jeff

Okay well then you have to try DaCast(http://www.dacast.com) to stream. It works great with android and iOS so you can use either. If you have any questions about it you should check this out: http://www.dacast.com/blog/mobile-live-video-streaming-helps-with-content-exposure/. I know a lot of people who used Ustream and BlogTV but switched to DaCast just because of mobile streaming.

Agreed that none of them are very high quality. Usually it's more a function of the connection speed, though. You might try "qik", but I think it's about the same.
