Be very very careful. A few people will buy giftcodes to give away and Notch (creator of Minecraft) has been known to know to post some on special occasions. These usually go very fast though. Don't give any information away or download anything because if they really wanted to give someone an account they would either give username and password, or a gift code.

You can get illegally pirated copies of the game, if that's what you mean. It's a total d-bag move though. If it were mw3, battlefield, or some mainstream game it's not as bad, but stealing from indie game developers is just downright disrespectful in the gaming world

Possibly but very unlikely. You should thread carefully when you see these ''hey you can get free minecraft'' because a large majority are fake. And why would anyone give en out for free, their expensive to purchase so its more likely a fraud or an illegal method.
