Is there a DVR for over the air TV?

How can I find out when my favorite TV shows are on?

  • I'm following a few TV shows that the networks seem to play fast and loose with scheduling... one week they will skip showing a new episode, other week they'll show one episode instead of two (X Factor, I'm looking at you), or the show moves around on the schedule so it doesn't appear on the same night as the previous week. All of this *confuses* my DVR, which ends up not recording new episodes. (You could make an argument that the real "problem" here is that my DVR should be doing a better job of figuring out when the show air; let's assume for now that I can't fix that.) I also don't know when to expect to find a show on my DVR, so I can't really plan my evenings so I know if it will be a "TV night" or not. Ideally, I'm looking for a web page that just says "The next new episode of _____ is airing on ___(day and time)_____." (Incidentally, a show's official web site seems like where I would find this info, yet many of those sites seem to miss the mark completely. Case in point: http://30rock.com has no giant graphic that says "Check out our season premiere on ______," and the one button that does say "see the schedule" presents me with a list of reruns. Stupid!) Searching the on-screen channel guide isn't the answer; it takes many minutes of scrolling through the week and scanning channels to search for something and it's easy to overlook what I'm after. Similarly, typing the name of the show into the DVR is a clunky solution and my DVR still tends to skip episodes unless I manually find an episode and tell it to record.

Incidentally, I found this-- it's quite close to what I'm after (and even though the design is a little busy, I applaud the simplicity of the calendar format), but doesn't have data for many TV shows I'm following. http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/

If you have an android device... Then there is an app called TEEVEE which adds all the timings of the series to your calendar and you can even add reminders if you want to do so
