Why would a big business act small?

Ever had a great idea? For those with business ideas, why didn't you act on these ideas?

  • I'm at Boston's Startup weekend and we're looking to find reasons why people with ideas don't act on them. What are your reservations, barriers to entry, etc? Any and all feedback is much appreciated.

  • Answer:

The bigger the idea, the harder it is to implement and execute. The smaller the idea, the less it's worth the hassle. But it won't matter unless you can become obsessed about it.

I have a list of these The idea was unfeasible either in implementation or revenue. I forgot what it was in the morning. Need to find the right team and resources. There is already a better product. There already is a failed product. The last two points require high level of awareness of the current state of world which is infinitely hard to maintain.

Where I work we are working on projects that are more than 20 years old. I aim to look at projects with a long term focus. Never give up on them but understand that sometimes projects sit on the shelf for 20+ years until the right situation occurs. Sometimes you review the ideas on the shelf and find you don't like them any more and then you reject them.
