What are the features of business management?

What are the potential benefits of adding social features to conventional BPM (business process management)  solutions?

  • Answer:

When you say adding 'social features' can you provide examples?  Are you saying for example, linking to a facebook profile or tagging something?  Either of these cases I wouldn't say have much need in the BPM space due to the nature of BPM's goal: process improvement.  I struggle to see how letting your 'friends' know that your go through the resource approval process, or funding request process; likewise with tagging.   If informing friends or colleagues is an enabler to helping improve the speed of a process - then the BPM solution itself is missing the boat.  BPM should be guiding people through a process that otherwise may have been guided by tacit knowledge before (the world of 'he who has been around the longest gets through quickest').  If your BPM solution is not enabling your process to become any more efficient, than fixes need to be made in the BPM solution.
