Where to find jobs in technology?

Where can I find technology policy jobs?

  • I am currently looking for work in this field, in the US or Canada.

  • Answer:

Broadly you could look at three kinds of roles related to technology policy: (a) Making policy: these roles typically would be political in nature and are unlikely to be "jobs" but elected positions as legislators. (b) enabling or assisting policy-making: these roles would be civil service type roles and you may want to look for openings in departments of S&T and related fields e.g. if interested in health, look for positions in department of health, or in health related bodies such as NIH; these roles serve or assist policy makers by providing evidence but not always "advice" to legislators. Typical job title to look for: policy advisor. (c) influencing policy-making: these roles would be found in lobbyist firms, political affairs consultancies and ideologically tethered think-tanks; these roles serve industry clients and their interests, helping put their point of view in front of legislators. Washington DC's K Street would yield many contenders for your consideration. Hope this helps. Thanks.
