Audiophiles: Best, affordable in-ear, noise-cancelling earphones w/ RICH bass?
-
I'm a former 'audiophobe' girl who is just now traipsing into the audiophile world. I write to seek various recommendations on general purpose, noise-"isolating" earphones. 1. Price: This is a tricky one. Originally, I wanted to spend around $75, and then that jumped impulsively to $100, but I feel naively 'influenced' by various earphones on Amazon (Shure, Sennheiser, Klipsch) that are advertised as 50% - 60% of their original $250 - $350, which, predictably tempt me to splurge up to $150, if indeed they are amazing earphones. 2. Bass: I have inexplicably grown to crave a deep, rich, sonorous bass- and though this may seem odd- 'palpable'. I recently listened to a friend's Shure, and nearly jumped out of my chair when the bass seemed to take on three-dimensional form. 3. Noise-"isolating": I'm afraid I have no idea what is the difference between noise-isolation and noise-cancellation, but ideally block out the outside world without inducing nausea [high-tech noise-cancellation Bose headphones made me nauseated, once]. 4. Other specs: in-ear, fits into smart phones/music players, able to hook up to a small microphone add-on for cell phones. Two or three recs along a price spectrum would be appreciated.

I am not exactly an audiophile because I haven't had the honor of owning a high range noise canceling ear cups . But I do look around enthusiastically for earphones Bd earbuds to find out the best that I can afford . First you will have to decide what kind of a earphone person you are , 1. Earphones : simple earphones which have small speakers and relatively no bass .. They are really great if you are not a great handler of earphones and they break easily . Adidas with collaboration with sennheiser has come up with some amazing earphones which also look good ( aesthetics are important too) But after 2 months of using them mine got ruined when I accidentally pulled them while running . And also if you are looking for noise isolation .. These are t the ones for you . 2. In ear buds : these are my favorite types . They provide awesome music plus are noise isolating too . I have tried skull candy , Sony , Panasonic and creative earbuds but all in all klipsch is4 earbuds .. They are just amazing , providing rich treble and deep bass and they can be pretty loud too .. They can drown out traffic at medium loudness level . All in all if you ask me I would recommend these to you . For a 100 bucks they are a steal . But mind you they only work with iOS . 3. Over the ear : the audiophile in you would gasp and shudder with excitement if you are able to get your hands on these . Don't go for monster Dr. Dre earphones , they are good for hip hop but when you listen to classical or acoustic songs .. They just drown out the higher frequency bands.. It's a lot of thump but no tweet . If you are rich try Bose QC 3 headphones still the best when it comes to noise canceling and they are pretty balanced when it comes to music .. But I would also encourage you to look at Quincy jones collection of earphones .. They sound amazing and they look good too . On a side note .. Check out bang & olufson .. Drool over their range of audio supremacy ! Happy rocking out !

Considering your three major requirements - in-ear, noise reduction and bass, I'd recommend the Klipsch S4. Comfort I have been using them for quite a while and they are honestly pretty awesome. I dont think I have ever used in-ear headphones with a more comfortable silicone head. It does not irritate the ears when worn over long sessions. Sound Its a pretty balanced sound output - decent lows, excellend mids, good highs. Noise Reduction The silicone buds are designed in a way that it fits snugly in the ear. Blocks out most ambient noise this way. Price At $80, they really give a much better sound experience than any skullcandy, dr. dre yada yada. You can check out the head-fi reviews here : http://www.head-fi.org/products/klipsch-image-s4-in-ear-enhanced-bass-noise-isolating-headphones#wiki Mind you, audiphilia is a one-way road. Once you have heard how good "good sound" sounds, there really is no going back. Enjoy!

Yamaha EPH-100. There, I said it. An audiophile friend of mine recently brought these to my attention and who would have ever thought that Yamaha would be a viable player in this game? These are noise-isolating but they're still worth the mention. Here's the link to a review: http://www.digitaltrends.com/headphone-reviews/yamaha-eph-100-review/ I would urge you to look at the http://Amazon.com reviews for this item as well, simply because they're a) surprisingly well-considered and b) offer a comparative experience to the baseline ear-buds such as (of course) Sennheiser. Having read your criteria, my first instinct was to suggest the V-Moda simply because the bass response is rich, but not stupid Dr. Dre hip-hop rich. V-Moda's are great knock-around in-ear earbuds that offer an acceptable range with a moderately heavy bass sound for under $100.00. Step it up a notch and look at under $200.00 and consider these Yamaha's. For the money, I'd put these up against more expensive Ultimate Ears, Sennheiser and even Klipsch. (although for anything over 300.00 and you don't mind paying, Klipsh is quite extraordinary).

From earphones I'm testing Etymotic mc5, http://triple.fi 10, Creative aurvana, sennheiser cx-400, sure se215, HiFiman re400, Philips Fidelio S1, Etymotic hf3 and Etymotic ER 4P and a bunch of others. In my opinion the best choice for its price are Etymotic mc5 and Etymotic hf3. But the best extreme bass has http://triple.fi 10.

Find out what is the difference between Active noise cancelling and Passive noise cancelling (noise isolation) from this link. http://www.thebestearbuds.com/noise-cancelling-and-noise-isolating/ Under 100 earbuds with rich bass, I would recommend Shure SE215 or Sony MDRXB50AP, they offer strong bass as you wished. http://www.thebestearbuds.com/best-bass-earbuds-under-100/
