What is the best password recovery method for iPhone/Android app?

• I am trying to figure out what the best password recovery method would be for a mobile app? Right now, we have it implemented like this. Lost password? (in app) -> Enter email address (in app) -> Check email and click reset link (Mail program or Mobile web browser) -> Choose new password (Mobile web browser) -> Open app and login The user goes from the app to the mail program/mobile browser and back to the app. Is there a better method?

  I am in a similar situation. One problem with the flow you describe is that users will have to enter the password in the browser first and then again when they open the app. Another solution which prevents this would be: 1. User clicks forgot password in app 2. User fills in email clicks [send] 3. App now tells user that they will receive a code by mail, they can fill it in right below (in the app) 4. User opens email, copies code 5. User pastes code in app, clicks [reset password] 6. User can now change password 7. After password change user is automatically logged in
