HTC (company): How do I solve an Internet sharing problem that I have with my Samsung Galaxy S2 over Bluetooth?
-
November 16, 2h20pm: this is an update on the mail I wrote a long time ago, because I had a problem connecting my (then) HTC phone over Bluetooth to my new car (BMW 5 series). At the end of July of this year I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2. What a great device, but ... I have the same problems. BMW has no answers for me, so does anyone of you has them? Here is the original mail; I only changed HTC by Samsung Hi all, when trying to connect over Bluetooth to my netbook or my car (to look up addresses on google over my navigation screen), to let these devices use my Samsung as a modem, it doesn't work. When connecting over USB it does work with my netbook. That is no option however for my car, so I want my Samsung to share internet with my car and I can only do that via Bluetooth. I do get connection over Bluetooth for my phone function (address book included) and it even plays the music files on my Samsung. The car 'says' that internet works as well, but it doesn't. The internet function on the car works with another phone (iPhone) when internet is shared, so there's nothing wrong with the car. Also on my netbook I do get internet sharing over USB with my Samsung, but when I switch to "PAN Bluetooth" instead of USB it doesn't work. What is wrong here? It tries to connect and then, when it's supposed to share the internet, I hear the sound on my Samsung that it disconnects the data sharing, just like I use the "comm manager" to switch off the "data connection". Immediately it restarts connecting to the internet again and this works, since I see actvice sync searching for mails etc., but meanwhile my car or the netbook displayed a note telling me that the internet connection with the Samsung has failed. Thanks for helping me. Kind regards, Jean

Answer:
Internet sharing is not enabled by default on android. This is probably a security feature, to prevent people using your internet if they are able pair your phone. (Which is unnecessary if you ask me) Go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> Select the settings for the paired device -> Enable Internet access. Turn the bluetooth on and off again. Then reconnect. This should fix your issue.
