How to create a semantic search box and engines?

Technical Writing: What software can i use to create SEO friendly User Guides and Product Help pages that are also indexible by the search engines?

  • Software such as MadCap Flare uses JS and frames making user guides and product help pages very unfriendly to search engine spiders. It is practically impossible to get these pages into the search indexes. Does anyone have experience with or advice on dealing and overcoming this problem?

  • Answer:

If you write the guide in html, you will get the benefit of having multiple pages.  However, Google will see multiple pages differently.  Not as one guide.  If you write the guide as a .pdf, the Google will see the guide as one document.  My suggestion would be to write it in html, then consolidate it into a .pdf to provide both for your readers.  This will cover both bases with Google, but most of all it will give your users a great experience.

I would just create your own section on your site for resources and just do the guides in html.  Or look into assistly. Those pages are indexable and you can create wiki's
