How can I do a resource in PDF file?

How to make relative file links in PDF? What am I doing wrong?

  • Once upon a time, PDFs could do RELATIVE file links. Apparently, no longer (I'm using PDF export from InDesign AND Acrobat X Pro, both fail). What I mean is, here's the DVD structure I had planned (and built for). Presentation.pdf (in root of DVD) | <Videos> [folder] | <Software> [folder] In days gone by, one could link from a PDF to a file using the local structure of "folder/file.ext". As long as the folder containing the file linked to was below the PDF itself in the folder tree structure, that would work. That meant that the PDF was completely portable. One could move the PDF and its subfolders onto a CD or DVD and it would work. NOW, doing that exact same thing results in Acrobat looking for "\\folder\file.ext" which, of course, fails. For the record, I've done relative linking successfully many, many times in the past. Ergo, I know how it SHOULD work. Did the software change behavior? Did I miss a preference setting? Have I forgotten a step somewhere? Help please! Thanks, Pariah
