Why do characters in tv shows and movies have such bad mobile phones?
-
In real life most people have iPhones, Androids and all other types of smart phones but in movies all I see are old flip style phones, why is this?
-
Answer:
Assuming the movie's plot is supposed to be happening on the current year, there are two things to consider, given how fast technology changes: 1) The time that has passed since the movie was filmed and the time it was finally realeased... all characters will end up with 'last year's phones'. 2) The potential product placement contracts the movie producers made, agreeing to showcase phones or electronics from a specific vendor for a price. Most probably they won't show iPhones if Apple is not paying for the placement unless the plot requires them too.
