Should Yahoo! spin-out Flickr to private equity?

Answer:
Depends who you're asking :) If you ask PE firms, the answer is 'Yes, of course!'. I think if you ask the user community, the prevailing response would also be a Yes. But it's a NO if you ask Yahoo management or shareholders: Flickr has become a fundamental asset and Yahoo has a lot to lose without it. How this asset is currently managed and utilised is a separate question. An obvious case of poor alignment (even conflict) of interests of major stakeholder entities: users vs shareholders. Instead of contemplating a spin-out it may be a better idea to align and synch those interests?
