What exactly is Google Voice?

VoIP: What is the cheapest way to buy a real cell or landline number (not a virtual Google Voice or Skype number)?

  • I just need a real number to validate myself on online services where I don't want to give up my actual number. They don't accept Google Voice or Skype numbers, somehow. EDIT: Try Craigslist, for instance-- it will silently refuse to call/text any Google Voice or Skype number for validation.

  • Answer:

I think what you are asking for is a US DID, if you dont have an asterisk server or some other VoIP system/PBX then look for any old SIP service that will let you rent a number. http://Localphone.com for instance will allow you to buy on a rolling monthly commitment numbers from lots of countries including USA. You can divert it to your actual number or use a soft phone for it.

Get a cloud calling number , but it may have regulations for your verification. There are lot of grey listed/blacklisted website which give temporary number to register and you get email alert/notification of the same .It is purely unethical and can land you in trouble . Be cautious.

You can buy a real number in https://bnc.lt/m/Mi7Mbo61Wr (callsfreecalls). With this number you'll be able to make calls and receive incoming calls and messages. It is really great solution I use it by myself. And even put one of the bought numbers on my business card. Besides they have list of numbers from different countries. So you can have even two or three numbers and change them when you want to.

Actually Google Voice and SkypeIn numbers are both real E164 compliant numbers and should be acceptable anywhere just like a cell number

Go to voxox and sign up for a free incoming line. Then forward it as needed or used their app. Just remember to ensure the timeout to ring your forwarding number is set higher length than the default or the incoming call won't get forwarded long enough for you to answer the call.
