Can anyone suggest how I can improve myself?

Can anyone give me a review of the MSG . My Dad wants to use an SEO company to improve his rankings. Can anyone tell me if they have experience with this particular company? If not could you suggest some alternatives you recommend?

  • Answer:

Without spending a ton of time looking at the site, I noticed two things that would scare me away: 1. The language and grammar I'm seeing on the site isn't what I would call "good." Now that's not to say that someone needs a firm grasp on English to be successful in SEO, but a poor grasp of English does mean that: Communicating with this firm could be difficult This firm may not be up to date on the latest news and information in the SEO industry, mostly because the cutting-edge work is being done by English speakers When this firm communicates and/or markets on behalf of your business, they may be less effective 2. The domain "http://www.mediasearchgroup.com" doesn't have much of a Linkscape domain authority score (19 out of 100). My company site, for example, has a domain authority score of 46 and that's marginal as far as SEO firms are concerned. If they don't have a great domain authority score for their main site, they're either a) really busy servicing clients and don't have time to work on their own site (my excuse, LOL), b) new to the game, or c) not very good In my mind, #1 is the bigger concern, but #1 and #2 combined are enough to exercise extreme caution. Of course, it could be that this is a great SEO company. If it were me, I'd ask them for some references and then call those people and make sure they got what they wanted out of this company.

I would pass on them.  What kind of business? Ecommerce or lead gen. Local or national?  This will depend on who you would hire as not all SEO's have the same experience. Local search is different than national

A few takeaways from their site: 1. They say them design with W3C compliance in mind yet the site is not W3C compliant. That being said W3C compliance is a tough nut to crack but I dont think I would claim it as a strong suit of mine without my site being compliant. The site is mostly html5 and my tool set might not be able to reliably test that. 2. They use meta keywords. This might be a holdover from the original design from years ago but I see and old site there as of June 2011, so between then and now the new site was made and the meta keywords inserted. The big three search engines have not used meta keywords as a ranking factor for years. 3. Most of the text on their site is kinda general. I don't read anything specific as to what they are going to do and why it would benefit you. Everything just seems like industry buzzwords. If you let me know more about what you are trying to achieve I can try to point you in the right direction.

its funny how does that compagny send massive bulk email to sollicitate people to onboard their service. From what i saw, most of the hidden gems that DO deliver their promise stay aways from this kind of cheap intrusive marketing that pollute the web.

It amazes me the generalizations and misinformation people spew out when it comes to SEO. Do  not make a decision based on this. In fact, I'll tell you to speak to someone at http://www.7strategy.com , and get a proposal. Then use your head based on the information you've received from them, and make a decision if they're right for you. If your Dad is considering the above firm, by doing so he'll have a professional comparison (not some unknown know-it-all advice). Good luck.
