How to create Facebook contest on mobile?

Why does Facebook create pages of people automatically?

  • I purposely don't use Facebook. But I've been hearing from people I meet who say they "saw me on Facebook." I asked someone who uses Facebook to search for me. Sure enough, when you search my name, a Facebook page comes up. There's a button where you can "Like" me. Trouble is, I never made it. It was made automatically by Facebook from a page about me on Wikipedia, and it says so in small letters on the bottom. I searched for some other names of famous people who aren't on Facebook and found some similar auto-generated page. While I suppose the Wikipedia content says people are allowed to reuse it, something seems wrong with Facebook giving people the impression that I participate in their social cesspool. Why does Facebook do this? It seems misleading. Note: these pages are NOT made by individuals. It's content pulled from Wikipedia. Here's an example of one (not me): http://www.facebook.com/home.php?react=AQBlG-SIsuyaQzXm#!/pages/Chaim-Potok/104021419635323

  • Answer:

A Facebook 'page' is not the same as a Facebook profile. Facebook pages exist for any topic that Wikipedia has a page on: so you could find Facebook pages on Disney movies, beer brands, abstract philosophical concepts and chemical elements. I am sure if you contact Facebook, they'll be happy to have your page removed. If you have any issue with Wikipedia's handling of material about you, please contact the OTRS team at
