How to copy only values in Excel?

Microsoft Excel: I am unable to copy formulae between workbooks. When I do a  ctrl+c Ctrl+v operation, just the values get pasted. The paste special function also does not work correctly here. Any help?

  In Workbook 1: 1. Control ` 2. Now select the stuff you want to copy over. 3. Control H 4. (Here is where you have a bit of freedom, but this is what I usually do). Replace = with | (but any symbol that you never use will do) 5. Alt A 6. Control C Alt Tab over to Workbook 2: 1. Control V 2. Control H 3. Reverse the Find and Replace operation you just did 4. Alt A 5. There you go. Your formulas are copied over exactly, and will re-evaluate instantly. Now here is why it works: You are going into the formula audit mode and replacing the = sign with something else, this breaks the formula. Excel will stop evaluating expression. You can now simply copy and paste the values to wherever you want. Once pasted, then you can replace the random other symbol back to the = sign. This will tell Excel that it's a formula and restore your original functionality.
