What is the best way to promote an online fundraiser?

Why didn't Twitter do more to promote the "favorite a tweet" feature the way Facebook promoted liking a status update or post and why didn't Twitter do more to promote well-liked content the way Facebook did?

  • Another example of this is Quora. On Quora you upvote and follow things and your feed is highly upvoted or followed content. On Twitter there is simply no effort to discern the good from the bad. Why is that? Beyond that, why is there no effort to promote highly retweeted content from your followees?

The reason is that because they could not support it technically for a number of years. They had notification and display functionality early on, but their serving infrastructure could not support wide-scale use of it until they got past the Fail Whale era.

I think Favoriting is the way into a huge feature set that hasn't been exploited to any significant degree. The fact that accessing Favorites is buried several menus deep in any Rwitter client leads to a situation where plenty of people use the feature for bookmarking content, but rarely revisit it.
