IHSS program in California?

For someone interested in becoming a professional interaction designer w/o much technical experience, which program: toronto's George brown's MA in design strategy or California College of the Arts' BFA interaction design program would give me an edge?

  • If I go for CCA's program in design, I'd have to apply a semester after their undergrad ix program. I'm looking to gain technical skills as well as theoretical knowledge of ix.

  • Answer:

You have to absolutely acquire technical experience and don't rely solely on any program to teach you. To really understand the technical aspect, you should start teaching yourself using online resources and by the time you choose either of these programs you will have some basic technical competence, which will allow you to relate the education to your practical skills.  This will give you the "edge" that you're looking for. Designers without technical skills are for the most part useless.  If you want to work on the web, start teaching yourself html, css, maybe some adobe products and also better if you can learn JavaScript.  The best online resources for beginners to start learning this stuff is the http://Lynda.com tutorials in all these subject areas. Subscriptions are cheap.
