Is it possible to open an incognito tab in Chrome?

How do I stop Chrome  from opening a new blank tab after I use ctrl-w to close a tab?

  • When I press ctrl-w to close a tab in google chrome it now replaces the tab with a new blank tab. How do I reset it to the old settings of just closing the tab without opening a new blank tab?

  • Answer:

AFAIK, that is not a Chrome default feature. When you close a tab (via Ctrl+w), it will close the tab, not spawn a new blank tab. Make sure if any of your extension is adding such functionality. You can quickly check if you run chrome with the "--disable-extensions" command line option.

That functionality is added by Chrome Toolbox. Click on the flaming blue gear in the top right, and it's the first setting under Tab.

Not sure if this helps, but I had the same problem, and un-checking the option in Chrome Toolbox to "Don't close current browser window when closing last tab, create a new tab instead" reset it to normal behavior.
