How can I hide my profile?

How can I hide my edits on Quora from my profile?

  • I don't want others see my Edit log, how can I hide it from my profile?

  • Answer:

You can't delete old edits from Quora, but if you go anonymous on any of the affected questions, no one on the site will be able to see that you were the one who made those edits originally. If the edits were made to topics themselves or as changes to your username, then you can't hide those without .

There is no way to do this that I know of, besides requesting that your account be deleted by emailing . You can also just wait until you accumulate enough edits such that your name changes are buried deep within your edit log.

The availability of the edit log is a core feature of Quora, just like it is in Wikipedia. Understanding the sequence of edits in an answer is as important as the final answer when you are a site about answers. I presume there is an exception to get individual redactions from the log on an exception basis, but hiding the edit log of the answer should not be a feature.  So, to hide the edit log, the only option is to delete the answer.

I've been A2A on this question and can only say that it's been answered well - you cannot hide your edits from your profile. The only thing that will hide any  edits if you are trying to hide something in particular is when you add more. The edits are part of your profile, they are there to stay as is all of your content.  If you continue using Quora, know that everything you do is visible. Quora isn't like social media where you have control over what you post. This is a database for information, so all the content is searchable and visible.

Nope. This is one of the nicer things about Quora, and ensures a fair bit of transparency. It also helps keep the site sane. The only edits that wouldn't show up on your edit log are the ones you do anonymously. If you delete a comment or answer, it won't show up on your edit log, but there will be a note that you deleted something. Also, upvotes don't show up on the edit log. The edit log also has a limit of the number of edits it can show. However, this limit is large. People trying to stalk you can still scroll through a lot of edits, though they won't see them beyond a point. Even if you block someone, they can still see your edits. Don't ask me how I know. I know. Basically, the fact that edit logs are publicly visible is one of the things that keeps some of us from descending into all sorts of mayhem. It is also an important moderation tool - the moderators (Quora employees, not the Trusted Reporters) can probably access all of your edits too, even the ones that have passed the log limit. The flip side is, if someone has a vendetta against you and wants to go on a reporting spree (don't ask me why someone would bother, some do), they have access to all your activity for certain periods of time. As I said before, this helps identify someone who has been consistently writing harassing content, and it's probably the most important reason to have this edit log available on Quora. Better to use Quora with the knowledge that the world is watching.

You can go anonymous on each of the question pages on which you made edits if you really don't want them being public. In general though, edits don't show up as stories in the feed of people that follow you so it doesn't seem too important to hide your edits.

Matthew Hyndman

I don't think you can, nor do I think you should be able to. For example, when I write an edit that is more substantial than correcting a typo, I actually mention within the answer that this is an edit, and when it was made. I find it better Quora conduct.

Noam Kaiser

No you cannot hide your edits.  When you edit something you are changing the site for everyone so people need to be able to see those edits so that they can decide if they agree with them.  Especially if you are editing someone else's content.

Colin Gerber

You can't. Nope. No way. Sorry. You can 'unfollow' a topic, in which case it won't appear in the list of topics you follow. But if you've already created an edit, then the best way to make the record of that edit disappear is to write lots and lots of great content, ask a heap of interesting questions, comment thoughtfully on others' content and quite quickly you will find that you bury the record of the edit. There is a sneaky way around this, but you are already Anonymous.

Paul Stockley

You can't hide your edit logs. In case, you want to hide the edit logs of a question or an answer asked or wrote by you, then make your content anonymous. Like this, you can hide specific content's edit logs. But, rest of the activities will be exposed to the public. There is no privacy settings for it.
