How can I leave my job in California and collect unemplyment insurance?
-
I would like to leave my office job of several years and work towards a new career path or independent project. How can I leave my current employer and collect unemployment insurance for a period of time?
-
Answer:
Simply put, get fired and get your former company to accept your unemployment insurance claim. That's easier said than done for some companies and I know of many who will reject your claim. Long story short, it's probably better for you to do a decent job at your current job, save enough money so you can resign and then do your project or do your project in your spare time until you can leave your current company.
