What are taxes payable by an Indian Software services and web design company, to Central+State Govt, and what are taxes(service tax/other ?) to be charged to clients by the Indian company?
-
I am working to create a software services and web design startup, and want to know what are the taxes to be paid by me to the govt, and the taxes that I will have to charge my clients. Also are any taxes in India recoverable? If so, what are those?
-
Answer:
You will mainly be charging your clients service tax. However depending on which state you operate in you may also have to charge VAT and your contract may be subject to works contract tax. This can change from state to state and most importantly on how your contract is worded. Please consult a qualified professional.
