I've had a pretty decent experience with Axure. It's exactly what I needed- a drag-and-drop rapid UI prototyping tool that comes as a desktop application. It gets the job done. I'd rate the learning curve on Axure a 4/10. The results are good enough to get most UI concepts across, but I'm definitely looking for a better alternative in the same vein. Cons: 1) Produces a pretty raw HTML proto that can look like a disaster on the wrong browser/OS combination. The output is rarely 100% true to what you saw when you were designing. I'd be worried if I had to email someone a proto rather than show it on my own computer. 2) Limited built-in selection of UI objects for you to use in your designs... you get just the basics. 3) Limited formatting options on UI objects. Hard to make things pretty. I know that's a lot of cons, but I find Axure invaluable for kicking off new products. I'd highly recommend it.
