My Gmail inbox is at 86% full now, so how can I delete hundreds of gmail emails all at once, or at least from certain labels (folders) that I have created so that I stay under my limit?

Answer:
Here are a few options: Manually select multiple emails you want to delete with the check boxes on the left, and delete them. Keyboard shortcuts (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=6594) might make this quicker. If you select all the emails on the page, a bar will appear asking if you want to delete everything in the inbox/label/search you're viewing. Click it to delete ALL of those emails. Do a search for emails meeting a certain criteria that you don't need. For example: from: from:http://example.com from:"Example Website" Delete emails from labels you don't need. Create filters (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=6579) to automatically delete emails you don't need. If you want to delete existing emails that meet a filter you just created make sure to check "also apply filter to x conversations" in the second page of filter setup settings. Report things that are spam but aren't labelled so as spam. They'll get automatically deleted in 30 days, and it will train Gmail's spam filters. Use Find Big Mail (https://www.findbigmail.com) to help you easily track down the largest emails in your account (it's free). DELETE YOUR TRASH. Deleting emails alone does not actually remove them from your account and free up space until 30 days later. Go to the trash and empty it when you're ready

There are a lot of ways to get to these emails. But, if you are into geeky stuff, and want to try out new things, I'd recommend usage of a few advanced searching techniques inbuilt directly into your gmail, from here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7190?hl=en What people generally don't realize intuitively is, the power of search within Gmail. It is extremely effective, and can allow you to skim through, almost anything and return the set of emails you desire. Post that, it is just a simple select all and delete step. For your case, you can possibly use size: or before: to effectively reduce your usage of memory, alongside the label: usage. Side note: My personal favorite are in:trash searches', because of my almost OCD type reaction to achieving a clean inbox, and then I have to go back looking.

1. Use the instructions in this link to select ALL messages organized by a certain label: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35088 2. Once selected, click the Move to... button and choose Trash. 3. Click your Trash label and choose the Empty Trash Now link at the top of the message list.
