What are some careers in art?

What careers do you recommend for someone with an art history major and computer science & studio art minors?

  • Is going to grad school a better idea than going straight into the work force with this education? I know Python, Java, C, PHP, and HTML. My studio art minor is focused mainly on design/digital design. If I go to grad school, I'd probably either pursue a master's degree in art history or something else useful for a specific career path that I haven't thought of yet.

You can definitely put your design skills to good use. One area I can think of is game development. Game developers are always in need of good artists and designers.Your knowledge of scripting languages will help with model design/animation. I myself am looking for someone with your skills right now for some small scale game development.

As far as art history and computer science as a combination goes, the academia route is probably a pretty good bet. Many aspects of the digital humanities are currently being underway in many universities in which they are digitizing art and creating dynamic web pages to view and display art.
