How do you scrape location data for import into Google Maps when the physical addresses are located in pop-up bubbles within the text of a webpage?
-
My understanding of data scraping only goes so far, including the basics of populating points on a map using addresses in an Excel sheet. But I would like to know how a seemingly more complicated data scrape is performed. This question arose while I was looking thru the schedule for next week's CMJ music+film conference. Located here, http://schedule.cmj.com/ , the schedule has great UX but lacks a map feature. There are hundreds of bands playing at dozens of venues through out NYC. I wanted to create a Google map of the festival but am not eager to plot it manually.

Answer:
If you are going down the "do it yourself" scraping route rather than (/ahem using a Data as a Service provider like my company /meha) try out selenium or phantomjs for JavaScript based popup scraping.
