How to write with different fonts on Myspace?

Why do criminals in movies write messages using cut outs of different fonts?

  • In many movies, criminals (such as stalkers) write their messages using clippings of many different fonts. What is the rationale behind making a message look so odd?

  • Answer:

To disguise the identity of the sender by avoiding (1) handwriting and (2) typewriters, both of which produce unique patterns. Handwriting is pretty obvious, but you need to remember that the different manufacturers of typewriters used a variety of typefaces and manufacturing irregularities and wear made it possible to look at a known sample from a typewriter and compare it to a threatening letter, which could lead to the sender. So, the "solution" was to clip letters from newspapers or magazines (being careful to avoid leaving fingerprints). These would be larger letters, which are easier to manipulate that text size and, since you couldn't count on finding every letter you needed in the same advertisements, you'd end up with a variety of sizes and typefaces from different advertisements.

It prevents the use of handwritting analysis to narrow down a pool of suspects. it also prevents the use of analyzing printed documents to determine what kinf printer pronted them. often those clippings are created wearing gloves to prevent the criminal from leaving fingerprints. I suppose it can be more terrifying because it seems more cold and methodical verses to personal touch of a hand written letter.
