Things to learn and accomplish to become a CRO Consultant at Conversion Rate Experts?
-
Hello to all CRO Consultants out there :) I'm a Webdesign, SEO and Online-Marketing Freelancer from Germany. I work mostly for small and midsize B2C Companys. My dream is to become a CRO Consultant one day and to work as a Consultant for Companys like Conversion Rate Experts. I went through all their Blog Posts and tried to learn all the materials they have in their Checklists and Diagrams. I also read books like Don't make me thing, Webdesign for ROI and classics like Scientific Advertising. But that's not enough I guess :-) So I have 3 questions to every successful CRO Consultant out there: 1) Which Books, Online-Courses, Blogs and other Material can you recommend me to learn more about CRO? And how important is it to learn about other Areas like SEO and SMM? 2) Is there someone out there that is willing to mentor a hungry aspiring new talent or give me Feedback on my Designs and Websites, I'm willing to pay for that. 3) What's the average that a good CRO Consultant earns per hour and how much time do I have to invest to get there? Thank you for every answer! Alex

Answer:
Reading is never enough... I'd suggest you read "Call to action" of Eisenberg brothers and "Web Analytics 2.0" of Avinash Kaushik. This should be valuable for your direction. Following Avinash blog is also good. It is important to know SEO & SMM. Each traffic source brings in different type of visitors. It is necessary to know deeply about the user behaviors in order to convert them. Best,

Hi Alexander, As great resources, I'd also recommend http://WhichTestWon.com, the Unbounce blog: http://unbounce.com/blog/, the Ion Interactive blog: http://www.ioninteractive.com/post-click-marketing-blog/, and the book "100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People" by Susan Weinschenk. Another great blog is by Kiss Metrics: http://blog.kissmetrics.com/. It is not specifically CRO related, but does cover the topic from time to time with some really deep content. Cheers!

The key to success isn't just reading - it's experience. Run tests, learn from them, and repeat the process (while continuing to read, so you can learn and try new things).

1. Deliver value: Pitch ideas to them, pass on stuff they might find valuable. If you consistently pursue that, it is very hard to say no. 2. Build Relationships: Look at LinkedIn and see who they are connected to. Connect with those people to "close in". Go where they are and connect there. 3. Show performance: Do projects where you can show ROI, so you have a track record.
