What is the process for manufacturing a product that includes Bluetooth technology in it?

• For example, did Nike have to license Bluetooth technology from one company and then have a separate manufacturer design and develop the actual device? How is the licensing and business side of that process setup? What needs to be done in order for anyone to build a new product that includes Bluetooth tech in it?

  The typical process for a bluetooth product is: Product concept--> define specs-->design-->EVT-->DVT-->PVT-->MP Product concept: initialization of the product, define the user scenario, business model Define specs: define the product specs and ID of the product Design: including detail industrial design, Mechanical design, Electronic design EVT: build the PCBA which includes the PCB and component and firmware loaded, and verification of the function of the electronic design DVT:  produce the mechanical parts and electronic parts, and assembly of the mechanical parts and PCBA to become a fully functional product that fits the ID design. PVT: the production run that produces 1000~3000 pieces to verify yield and  production issues, as well as to finalize the test criteria of the products. MP: mass production, start to ship in big batches to channel or end users.
