How do I make a group on Facebook?

How can I make an old Facebook Group with low activity eligible for upgrade to the New Group format without losing its members in the process?

  • Apparently even though we post to our group multiple times a week, we don't have enough activity to upgrade to the new group format. FB allows this upgrade via a link but only if they deem your group has enough activity. It appears as though our group will be archived, but will this mean we will lose our members?

  • Answer:

You can not choose between upgrade and archiving, but you can ask your members to confirm their intention to remain members of the group by clicking the link on the top of the group page.

I'm looking into this too. I admin a few groups with two of them having a very good reason to not be archived. 'Rage Against The Machine Christmas No.1' had 1.6 million members at peak and created a bit of music/digital history...as did the 'Save 6Music' group (170,000).  Needless to say there'd be a bit of an uproar if these were not given the option to upgrade. I've been told that some recently upgraded groups were triggered by some additional group wall posts by numerous members. Understandably there's not 100% proof of this.
