How do I automate complex software distribution?

Is there any software/program that can automate tasks which currently are done manually by Adobe photoshop?

  • I actually want to automate some tasks such as cropping(not just rectangular) , making background(not the whole photo) darker etc. Is there any program that exists already ? if it doesn't , How about making such a software.I know it's not an easy task !! but how to proceed for that. Can image processing libraries like Magick++ help in making such software ? Also how much time it will take if it is made from scratch(of course using libraries) ? 6 months? 1 year? or more?

    Your best bet is to create some custom actions in Photoshop and automate them. Figure out on paper exactly what you want to achieve. Depending on how complex the automation is, you may have to split your images into groups and automate them with different actions (i.e. portrait and landscape photos) Actions can be very powerful though creating them can be quite difficult

What I would do is start looking into actions (for photoshop in particular though i think they also exist for other CS apps) + grabbing some of those (there are a lot of freebies), purchasing some OR checking out some tutorials.
