Is Merger Network reliable?

How will this potential merger affect end users & network subscribers?

  • a) Wi-Fi calling - T-mobile has begun rolling this out on Android devices, yet AT&T declared in October 2010 they would have nothing to do with this. So what will happen to this service/feature after the merger? b) Fastest HSPA+ network Speeds - T-mobile is at least two years ahead of AT&T on this just announcing speeds of up to 42mb. Will I eventually get kicked off this network? c) $80 unlimited plans without a contract - Will they grandfather people in? d) OTA updates - T-mobile is recognized as the most friendly network for Android phones while AT&T is the least. e) Different network bands - UMTS 850 & 1900 is what AT&T runs on and T-mobile is on AWS band IV (1700) so which one will become the default? And about the devices, will they need to have dual radios to manage both?

  • Answer:

So I think AT&T's CEO Ralph De la Vega answered these some of these questions by the way he dodged them in his talk at All things Digital D9 conference in June 2011.... I felt like I was watch Floyd Mayweather bob-n-weave as I watched him deflect, dodge, and dance around (albeit skillfully) these questions but the bottom line is he would not commit to keeping UMA, no idea about pricing but based on the new tiered data packages not clear what will happen to people on the $80 plans, and no word on how the networks will be combined.
