What is a good (USA) website/newsletter that advises on INDIVIDUAL stock and bond buying and selling (not ETFs or Mutual Funds)? (I not looking for a Stock Tip site, I am looking for help with a "DIY" Portfolio construction to help me maintain my asset allocation ratio etc.)

I'd like to maintain a traditional asset allocation mix for a 50 year old with acceptance of an average amount of risk. I'm looking for as low-cost and as hands-off a method as possible via a website or by subscribing to a newsletter of some kind. (or by using Schwab, Morningstar, eTrade research data). Unfortunately there are tax consequences to me owning ETF and Mutual Funds (I am an American who lives outside the USA). So I have to resort to holding individual stocks and bonds. No funds are suitable.

http://www.marketwatch.com/premium-newsletters/hulbert-financial-digest is like a newsletter of newsletters. It keeps tabs on the performance of other newsletters. If you don't find something you like, try reading that for awhile. Mark Hulbert is very rational and has a column in the weekend WSJ called Hulbert On Investing.

you could look at Argus - http://www.argusgroup.com/, that gives you stock picks in a variety of categories (equity income, mid cap growth etc). Argus is available free as part of a Schwab account (and possibly others). Note that Argus does not cover bonds to my knowledge

I highly recommend madmoney with Jim Cramer. I've personally found his daily advice on how to adapt to current market conditions to be absolutely invaluable, both in taking advantage of positive trends, and in holding on to your convictions to get gains in bear markets. The simplest way to get his take is to watch his show, which I dvr daily. Or you can go to his website on cnbc and read his daily content in digest form. If you find it useful, you might be interested in signing up for his action alert membership, which basically means you get an email from him every time he makes a move (buy/sell) on his charitable trust fund. Those emails, and access to info about his own portfolio, shows even more insights than the advice he gives out online.
