The capitalized form of "Censorship" is different than the non-capitalized form, "censorship", apparently in the PRC. What is the difference? This is a follow-up question to .

Answer:
Apparently there are two types of censorship in the People's Republic of China that are undertaken by the state. One form is direct Censorship by the state, and another is indirect censorship by agents of the Communist Party of China (the government). The capitalized form is the one that most people hear about. The non-capitalized form is perhaps more insidious. Censorship Examples Arrest, torture, and executions of human rights or democracy activists Shutting down or denying access to websites and other internet services Blocking access to broadcast and print media Many other examples censorship Examples Websites such as Baidu censor search results Freelance censors such as the "50 Cent Army" or "50 Cent Party" actively comment on forums or vote down comments An international version of the 50 Cent Army was also recently revealed which censors the internet outside of China Many more examples of both Censorship and censorship in the PRC is available at the Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_the_People's_Republic_of_China Other information: How China's '50 Cent Army' Could Wreck Web 2.0 http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/columns/article.php/3795091/How+Chinas+50+Cent+Army+Could+Wreck+Web+2.0.htm China's plan to use internet for propaganda http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/chinas-plan-to-use-internet-for-propaganda-20100713-109hc.html China employs army of piece-rate ‘netizens’ for online thought control http://www.tibetanreview.net/news.php?cat=2&&id=1846 China marshalls army of bloggers http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/programguide/stories/200808/s2342236.htm

Censorship and monitoring of the Internet is performed by every government. The version of censorship which is done by the Chinese government is often done in an inefficient and obtuse manner to shape Chinese domestic public opinion. Just like the US government, which is most concerned with US domestic public opinion, the Chinese government is concerned most with shaping Chinese domestic public opinion. For both governments, when domestic public opinion and international public image clash, the former always wins. I take issue with Kevin Meyerson's repeated treatment of Chinese propaganda and censorship, even though he knows nothing about it, and doesn't know anything in depth about China. Obviously, he doesn't know any Chinese. If, by his own admission, he knows little about China, then why does he repeatedly broach the issue of China and censorship? Why does he repeatedly comment on a subject where he has nothing to offer for readers to learn from, or gain insights from? Instead, he just uses Quora as a platform to regurgitate tired editorials from other correspondents about censorship in China. I would have no issue with his views and criticisms of Chinese censorship and media control if they were intelligent and better informed, and even offered insights. If they were, I would most likely agree with them and support his views. But they aren't.

There is no difference between "Censorship" and "censorship", as far as I can tell from researching. This is a made-up definition and somebody has too much time on their hands.
