How to integrate 3rd party documents with sharepoint search?

How can I add the search capability on Sharepoint from a set of documents?

    Hi there, You did not specify which version of SharePoint are you running. But it should be the same for both. First, I would suggest you to check in Central Admin whether or not a Search Service Application is created and running. Second, in order for you to be able to search for your data, which I assumed is your columns, a crawl needs to be performed. There would be two type of crawls (there is a third type introduced in SharePoint 2013: Continous Crawl): - Incremental crawl - Full crawl All of these can be setup to run in a schedule. I will not go into the detail of the differences between them. But in your case a normal Incremental crawl would do the trick. Hope it could be helpful for you.
