Why is my mail box and calendar always temporarily unavailable?

Why can an Android phone work with Exchange mail, contacts and calendar out of the box but there is no similar experience on Linux desktop?

  • Sure, it is possible to use Outlook Web Access to a certain extent but there are no proper clients available. I would like to be able to use a fully featured native application such as Evolution to access Exchange 2007+ services no matter if I am sitting at the office or if I am traveling.

  • Answer:

Android uses Exchange Activesync. Google and other vendors like Apple have licensed EAS for their mobile devices. I've used codeweaver's crossover product in the past to run MS Outlook on linux with decent success. I can't speak to the latest version as it's been awhile since I've run this config.
