  After using Google Voice since its early beta-release, and the official Google Voice app since it was released on the App Store, I can say that the app needs major improvement. I love the GV service, but the app is very buggy. I encounter a problem with the app hanging at least once a day, and usually much more often.  When the app is working, its functionality is more than adequate. The problems seem to arise when I try using the app too quickly, possibly overloading the app with requests. Also, it may be affected by how long the app has been open, some kind of memory problem. I don't really know. At any rate, the GV app is in dire need of an update to resolve these issues. Sometimes I feel like it isn't updated to incentivize us iOS based GV users to move to the much more smoothly integrated GV experience on Android phones. I hope that is not true, and the wonderful engineers at Google release an app that is worthy of the Google name. Update (5/1/2011): Shortly after I wrote this answer, I started using the GV Mobile + app that brings the functionality of Google Voice to the iPhone.  The app is 100 times more stable and has more features than the official app.
