Have you ever seen a mountain lion in the wild?

Does Mountain Lion have any fixes to Lion's debilitating behaviour on multiple monitor workstations?

  • When OS X Lion was released we saw full screen apps that seemed to kill the usefulness of multiple monitor workstations. They essentially turn your extended desktop into useless space. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3196329?start=0&tstart=0 I've seen nothing in the Mountain Lion release notes that address these issues. Is there anyone who has used the Dev preview that might have seen some improved UX?

  • Answer:

I have just upgraded to the Mountain Lion, but the full screen support still deactivates the opposite screen by filling it with the linen pattern. The improvement from the Lion is that you can use any monitor to make applications enter the full screen mode. It is impossible to use more than one full screen applications at the same time. That is a huge disappointment.

I just read on TUAW [1] that Mountain Lion has a slightly different approach to full-screen apps. Now, when you click the full-screen button the application will occupy the active monitor only (and not kill your other screen with linen death). Should have been done this way all along. In fact, what I read from apple was that you can use both screen, but it's true you can only use one at once. I confirm, you can choose the "master full screen" but it's still useless (in my opinion).
