Is Planning and Strategy undervalued in the creative industry?

I am a creative and a firm believer of the role of planning and strategy in the creative process, but I do see many well established companies not following that line of thought.

It's true that planning and strategy is undervalued but i suspect its more to do with economics than with either desire or lack of knowledge. We live in a age and world when everything needs to be done ' ASAP'. The unfortunate result of this is the poor planning and strategy that goes into the creative process.
