How much would you be willing to pay per month to gain unlimited access to HBO's entire catalog of programming via a streaming service, such as HBO GO?
-
In June of 2012, Jake Caputo (@jakecaputo) started a rallying cry on the internet by hosting http://TakemymoneyHBO.com and posting a simple question: How much would you pay monthly for the standalone HBOGO streaming service? At the moment, no data is being collected for data mining and pricing analysis, so I thought it would be interesting to open up the question here on Quora and begin gather data points.

Answer:
I wouldn't mind giving them $10/month. I enjoy most of their shows and the ever-changing catalog of movies and documentaries is a huge plus! I would be tempted to say $15 but that just seems illogical when I could go with Netflix instead for almost half the price.

I pay the $25 a month, and really dig getting all the content on all platforms. I'm paying for the content, they are giving me options on how to access it. I don't see how my choice to not use an option should lower the price. $25/month for everything, anyway you like is totally fair. Thinking the streaming only price should be lower is like going to an all you can eat buffet and asking for a discount because you didn't eat any shrimp.

$10 a month seems like a reasonable price point.

If you look at the ratings for HBO and look at the monthly charge of a typical premium cable subscriber (so one who actually subscribes to HBO) - you're looking at $25 per month paid by the customer to the cable company, who then pays HBO to access its content TV and online content. This is purely my calculation, not verified by anyone official. But by my logic, I would pay $15 per month for streaming-only. So yes, higher than Netflix.

I'd pay $10/mo...though I'd probably cancel my Netflix and Hulu Plus subscriptions and watch everything on HBO, then revert back to Netflix.

I would pay upwards of $15 for this. My living situation does not allow me to pay for services such as HBO through a cable provider, as it all comes standard from my landlord (I live in corporate housing, at the moment). As such, HBO is not available to me in any way, other than A. Waiting for series to come out on DVD and B. BitTorrent. BitTorrent it is! I feel no guilt about this, because they refuse to take my money to see their content when everyone else does.
