Is there any other e-commerce site besides PayPal?

What ecommerce platform is best for a replacement parts site?

  • We currently have a basic ecommerce site, with limited SKUs and configurable products. The site has become profitable, and now we'd like to expand our site to include spare parts (industrial machinery). We'd like live inventory (as in 24 hours live, we have about 5000 SKUs in inventory and ship about 30 orders a day. ) I'd prefer an open source offering, and something that is not highly customized. I'd like to hire a designer/developer to make a template and perform simple changes to the site, but if they flake out (as the designers of our current site did) I'd like to be able to use someone else if needed. Any help or advice? Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

Definitely Magento has all the characteristics you quote, and more. It is open source, you DO need somebody that knows it to set it up, but it is very popular so there is no shortage of talent you could hire to set it up for you. Plus, Magento is compatible with other systems (CRM to mention one) and you  could benefit from that too.
